An American Vampire in America
Toby Sheldon and Cassie Barnes are two outsiders in a small town who find themselves struggling to defend and support the actions of their strange friend, Carl Weber. Carl, deluded into believing he is a vampire, has filed a discrimination lawsuit demanding he be allowed to work at night (despite the fact that the grocery store he works at closes at 9PM). Carl's delusions run deep, and he fancies himself a civil rights icon for a new generation.
As Cassie and Toby do their best to remain loyal, Carl becomes increasingly manipulative and self-absorbed, leaving his friends wondering if he just might really be a kind of vampire. An American Vampire in America is a hilarious and shocking story about the modern American Slacker, and the lengths that some people will go in order to avoid responsibility. A biting and startling look at America's culture of litigation.
Comedy and tragedy collide in Carl Weber, a true rebel without a clue. Made possible by a generous grant from The Moving Picture Institute.
