On July 20, 1969, fear and excitement swept the world as Kennedy Space Center's ground control anxiously waited to hear the outcome of NASA's Apollo 11 space mission. With confirmation that the eagle had landed, the United States officially did the impossible and became the first nation to put a man on the moon.
